Film buff Anna grills her TV hero

Anna (15) featured in The Extra recently after landing a spot on education charity Into Film’s talent development programme.

The junior reporter is certainly going places, swapping film club at St Ninian’s High for a behind the scenes look at the actor’s new film, What We Did On Our Holiday.

Anna was invited onto the set as filming took place around Glasgow last summer but her interview has remained under wraps until this week’s cinema release.

She explained: “When I got the e-mail telling me I was going to visit a film set, I was excited. When I got the next email telling me which film set I was going to be visiting, I was positively ecstatic.

“One thing I found surprising was that they have to film scenes over and over again to get it right, and you have to be really quiet otherwise you might spoil the shot — I wasn’t great at the quiet bit.”

Film buff Anna was able to quiz David Tennant — best known for Doctor Who — on life on a film set and working with the other actors.

On coming face to face with one of her “absolute heroes”, Anna commented: “I still find it hard to believe that I actually got to meet him.

“It was weird being introduced as I felt like I already knew him, because he had been in my living room every Saturday for four years as Doctor Who.

“He was very friendly and funny — he told me more about his character and gave really good answers to my questions.”

The teen went on to interview actors Amelia Bullmore, Emilia Jones, Bobby Smalldridge and Harriet Turnbull, as well as speaking to producer Dan Winch and hanging out with star Rosamund Pike in make-up.

Anna added: “I had a brilliant day and loved everything about it — it was probably the most exciting thing I’ve ever done in my life.”
