Film festival returns to southside for seventh year.

Following the success of last year’s Wee Green Cinema organisers are delighted to bring a diverse and engaging programme that showcases the best of what the Southside has to offer.

Opening with a bang, creak and a clatter, guests are invited to cautiously tiptoe to Pollok House on June 2 for the atmospheric opening screening of 1961 psychological thriller The Innocents starring Deborah Kerr and ranked by Martin Scorsese as one of the scariest films of all time. Guests will also be invited to dine on a luxurious two course dinner which will be served in the servants quarters of the haunted Pollok House.

This year’s programme is peppered with immersive screenings - a screen will be erected in the main pool for a special late night screening of David Robert Mitchell’s 2004 horror, It Follows at Govanhill Baths on June 3 with its atmospheric and creepy swimming pool scene. And on June 4 with The Ethereal Wireless of the Dreaming Mind at House For an Art Lover (HAL) artist Morwenna Kearsley contemplates HAL as a cinematic character. These unique venues allow the festival to make the most of the wonderfully diverse and historical surroundings of Glasgow’s Southside.
