Final design for new merged catholic Primary School to be unveiled

Despite a long running campaign by parents of pupils at St Joseph’s Primary School in Milngavie to save thier school from closure the new school will be built on the existing St Andrew’s Primary School site in Bearsden. It will cater for pupils from St Andrew’s and St Joseph’s and the current St Joseph’s Primary School will be closed.

The council says they have collated feedback from previous events to inform their proposed final design.

A planning application is being lodged later this month.

Council leader Rhondda Geekie said: “This is an exciting development and we are working hard to ensure that the school meets the needs of the people who are going to be using it. We have recently opened Lenzie Meadow to some excellent feedback from pupils, parents and teachers alike.

“We hope to build on that success with this and every other school we open. We have listened to what people have had to say about the kind of school they want and this has helped shape the design. Once again we are asking for views.”

The architects for the new school, Holmes Miller, and council representatives will be at the event to provide information and answer any questions and allow people to have their say.

The event is being held at St Andrew’s Primary School, Duntocher Road, next Wednesday, October 12 from 2pm to 8pm.
