Firefighters urge members of the public to join charity cycle

Firefighters will be taking to two wheels next month in a bid to raise money for a pair of fantastic charities.

The ‘999 Charity Cycle’ is taking place on Saturday, August 24, and it’s hoped as many people at possible will saddle up and join the fun.

Starting at 9.30am, cyclists will set off from The Stables pub in Kirkintilloch, pedal all the way to The Falkirk Wheel, and then return back to Kirkintilloch along the towpath, finishing at the town’s Southbank Marina.

The route will follow the Forth and Clyde Canal, taking in some fantastic scenery on the way.

The cycle is approximately 33 miles, which is a great challenge that most people should be able to achieve.

It promises the chance to both get fit and raise money for two great causes – Macmillan Cancer Support and Scottish Fire and Rescue Family Support Trust.

The ‘999 Charity Cycle’ is being supported by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Kirkintilloch Canal Festival, The Stables restaurant, Kenwil Print and Design, Highland Spring, Solid Rock Cycles and many more organisations.
