Firm wins cash support for climate change scheme

A CUMBERNAULD business with an innovative idea to tackle climate change has been awarded £40,000 to help develop the technology.

Gas Sensing Solutions Ltd (GSS), based in Westfield, has developed unique CO2 sensors to help users slash energy costs by up to 20 per cent.

The cash award came from the Shell Springboard programme which supports enterprises with low-carbon business ideas. Alan Henderson, director of GSS, said: “This prestigious Shell Springboard award will help us launch into commercialising on a global basis. We are the only company in the world that has this technology so we know our sensor is truly unique. It provides a new solution for the global building control market.”

Angus Gillespie, Shell vice president for CO2 Strategy, said: “Through Springboard, Shell encourages others to innovate, and supports the transition to a lower carbon economy.”
