First step towards a Development Trust

attracts even more visitors.

Over 100 people went to a meeting in Milngavie Town Hall last Thursday (January 14) to find out more about ‘Making The Most of Milngavie’ and offer their support.

A unanimous vote on the night means that a Community Development Trust will now be set up which will be run by volunteers.

This mean theywill be able to apply for funding for projects.

Participants were asked to vote for their favourite ideas in the group’s Community Action Plan (CAP) .

There was overwhelming support for a centrally located public toilet to address the high demand from local people and international visitors who come to walk the West Highland Way.

Many people also wanted the popular ‘Milngavie Week’ to run again, an annual Fair of Clubs and Societies and improvements in Lennox Park and at the start of the West Highland Way.

After the vote on the night founding member of MMM, Callum Christie, said: “What I can I say, I’m speechless.

“We’ve been hoping this would happen but didn’t have a crystal ball.

“This is only the beginning even though we’ve been working on this for two years.

“Now we are looking for board members - we need fresh pairs of eyes, brains and energy.
