Five arrested in connection with firework race-hate crime

Five teenagers have been arrested after a 61-year-old man was attacked and racially abused.

The man confronted a group of young people after they allegedly threw a firework at his house in Berryburn Place, Barmulloch, around 12.45am on Sunday.

He was then understood to have been racially abused and had bricks thrown at him. He was treated in hospital and later released.

Police said four males, aged 16, 17 and two aged 15, and a 17-year-old female had been arrested over the incident.

They are expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court this week.
