Five year plan looks to link up journeys by foot and bicycle

Work to encourage people to walk, cycle and consider different forms of transport is forging ahead in East Dunbartonshire.

The Active Travel Strategy 2015-2020 was recently approved and adopted by East Dunbartonshire Council.

Projects include an East Dunbartonshire walking and cycling ‘loop’ linking many of the area’s towns and villages by improving the existing network and creating new connections to form a continuous circular route.

It is anticipated the project will deliver everyday improvements to the active travel network, but also draw visiting walkers and cyclists to the area.

It aims to connect residential areas and town centres with stations, leisure centres, libraries and more.
