Following in the footsteps of Stevenson

Shawlands novelist Lisa Ballantyne has been awarded one of four Robert Louis Stevenson fellowships to Grez-sur-Loing in France.

The fellowship — supported by Creative Scotland — was started in 1994 by Franki Fewkes, a Scottish enthusiast then living in France, and is aimed at allowing writers an escape from everyday bustle to devote time to writing.

The novelist — whose debut novel The Guilty One was an international hit — will retrace Stevenson’s footsteps in July, and commented: “It is an immense honour.”
