Food drive has Curves women celebrating

GIRL power swept across East Dunbartonshire recently as ladies united to help a leading women’s charity.

Curves in Bishopbriggs and Kirkintilloch ran its annual food drive for Women’s Aid.

The women-only gym asked new members to donate a bag of non-perishable foods instead of paying a joining fee during the month of March.

Bishopbriggs Curves collected more than 400lbs worth of goods.

Meanwhile, Curves in Kirkintilloch launched a competition and asked local groups including 6th Campsie Brownies, 3rd Campsie Guides, and Townhead Toddlers to bring in tins of food which were arranged into the shape of the Curves logo.

All the mums of the youngsters received a free workout pass for Curves and were entered into a prize draw to win a free month at the gym.

The 3rd Campsie Guides were the logo winners.

Christina Bone, manger at Curves Kirkintilloch, said: “Each year we support Women’s Aid and this year we gathered so much food that we were able to split it between both Women’s Aid and Kirkintilloch Baptist Church, who are going to distribute it to people in need in the community.
