“We want to give patients, visitors and relatives a chance to sample the food that is being served on the wards each day to patients and to give us their views.”

Representatives from Monklands Hospital’s hotel services department and Apetito, the food provider, will be there on the day to assist at event as well as a representative from Synbiotix to demonstrate the new pilot patient menu ordering system.

Lesley Robertson, assistant head of hotel services, said: “We are delighted to be the first hospital in Scotland to pilot the new meal ordering system, ‘MenuPick’.”

MenuPick uses modern ipad technology to record each patient’s choice of meal.

Lesley added: “On admission, each patient is issued with a personal copy of NHS Lanarkshire’s menu to review the choices for the week ahead.

“We have also invested in new ward food trolleys for the entire Monklands site, which are more energy efficient and have improved the quality of food.
