Forget ‘elf and safety - let’s set a new record

It could be said that, in its endless attempts to promote the Royal Burgh, the Lanark Business Group has now entered the realms of fantasy by inviting everyone, for one night only, to become those mythical characters, elves!

However, there’s nothing fanciful about the aim behind the appeal for as many Lanarkians to don fairytale costume on November 29 during the second annual Late Night Lanark pre-Christmas shopping promotion.

Explained Group chairman Alastair Brooks: “We were thinking of ways of getting Lanark national media coverage and thought that attempting to break the Scottish record for the number of folk dressed as elves at a single event might be a real attention-grabber.”
