Former Clydesdale Chief Inspector Colin Murphy receives citizenship award

ALTHOUGH he finally hung up his uniform after thirty years of police service last year, Biggar resident Colin Murphy is still very much `on duty’ when it comes to serving his town.

The former Chief Inspector in charge of policing the whole, vast Clydesdale sub-division of Strathclyde Police might have a much smaller`patch’ than before but now he is concentrating a lot of his time and efforts to the Biggar area alone.

That that has enormous benefits to the many local causes he supports, youth sports prominent among them.

It was in recogition of all this work that Biggar Community Council decided to confer a good citizenship award on Colin.
