Former Herald editor hits the airwaves with his band The Ambers

Former Kirkintilloch Herald editor Jim Holland has landed a plum spot on a BBC Radio 2 show with his band The Ambers.

X-Factor presenter Dermot O’Leary is to feature Jim and fellow band member Martin Smith on his programme this Saturday, November 12.

The afternoon show from 3pm-6pm has a regular slot for unsigned bands.

The show’s producers were impressed by The Motherwell duo’s latest video and got in touch.

Talented musician and singer/songwriter Jim, who left the Herald in April after serving as editor for 16 years, said: “We’re really excited to be featured on Dermot’s show. It’s broadcast throughout the UK and has a massive audience.

“The video was shot by Martin’s daughter, Anna, and she did a great job.”

Jim also served as editor of the Milngavie and Bearsden Herald.
