Fresh bid for phone mast

PROPOSALS to build a mobile phone mast near Eastfield Primary School have again been submitted to North Lanarkshire Council, despite having been rejected already.

Last summer Vodafone and O2 were refused permission to construct a new, shared phone mast near the school.

But the telecomms giants have repeated their request to build on this site.

Local architect Peter McLaughlin, who has children at the school, said of the plans, which can be found on the council website: “It looks like the exact same drawings have been put in as last year.

“There is little evidence on whether phone masts present a health hazard. Also, it does not appear that many people living near the site know about it.”
