From inland Douglas, Lanarkshire, to the ocean wave for Cadet Fraser Smith
Royal Navy Officer Cadet Fraser Smith (24), formerly of Carmacoup Farm in Douglas, is enjoying his first experience of life at sea on board the Royal Navy’s helicopter and commando carrier, HMS Illustrious.
The ex-Lanark Grammar pupil is learning about the multitude of roles undertaken by the 700-strong crew to keep the ship running smoothly as part of the final phase of his Initial Officer Training.
“It’s fantastic to just be on board,” he said.
