From the editor’s chair

By Jackie Mitchell, editor Cumbernauld News and Kilsyth Chronicle

THIS weekend we celebrate Doors Open Day, with dozens of local premises opening their doors to invite the public for a ‘sneak peek’.

Whether it’s a stunning building with architecture to treasure, an unusual workplace where you can’t imagine what goes on or a tiny little building at the heart of its community, there’s something for everyone, and plenty of places in Kilsyth and Cumbernauld taking part. You will find full details on p5 or at www. doorsopendays.org.uk

I’m looking forward to my own tour round the Barr’s Irn Bru factory. This is a slightly unusual Doors Open Day event, in that it is entry by ticket only, as the factory has very limited numbers. I look forward to enjoying a wee tipple of our other national drink with the News and Chronicle prize winners this Saturday.

Sunday will see me cheering on the runners at this year’s Cumbernauld 10k and the new Victory Mile. For full details, see page 15. Let’s hope the sun shines on all the spectators, and a light drizzle keeps the runners comfortable!
