Full steam ahead for Shawlands WI

Shawlands woman Angela Tamburrini has been hunting for a suitable venue to start up a southside WI (known as the Women’s Rural Institute in Scotland).

She commented: “There’s nothing like this in Shawlands — nowhere for women to meet up, unless you join a diet class or a gym, which implies you’re trying to change or you’re not good enough.

“I want to make it as inclusive as possible — a friendly and inspiring environment.”

The opening event is on Sunday, August 23, from 2-3.30pm at Shawlands Bowling Club, and will be attended by the chair and secretary of the Lanarkshire Federation.
