Fun at October programme

WITH the schools on holiday this week it was inevitable that the weather would be far from perfect.

That often means many youngsters are stuck indoors watching boring daytime TV while their parents desperately try to find new ways to entertain them.

However, the happy faces pictured here have been busy having a ball at Croy Miners’ Welfare thanks to a joint initiative with North Lanarkshire Council.

The October programme is for children in primaries three to seven and offers a wide range of fun activities, such as face painting, hair braiding, music and dance, arts and crafts, painting, team building, big brother tasks, sports, computer skills and team games.

Caroline Simpson, community learning and development worker, said: “It’s just been absolutely fabulous, the children all seem to have had a great time.

“It’s been pretty busy, we’ve had about 20 or so for the afternoon sessions.

“Everyone at the centre in Croy has been really supportive and Catherine [Martin] has been really helpful with the availability of the facilities so it’s been a great success.”
