Fun day hasserious aim

A gala-day style event will get under way with a bouncy castle, beat the goalie, tombolas, pony rides plus stalls from 10am onwards.

Proceedings will kick off at 10am with an under-14s charity football match. Another match for adults will take place at noon. Signed Old Firm strips are also up for grabs at an auction which will be held in the clubhouse.

The event organisers are Craigmarloch couple Alison and Craig Ogilvie who are preparing to emigrate to Canada in August – and who have a poignant reason for embarking on this charity drive.

For money raised will help a flegling children’s charity which has been set up to honour Craig’s cousin Charlene Reaveley, a Dundonian lass who made a new life for herself in Canada before fate took a devastating turn.

Alison said:”Charlene was a mother of four who died when she was struck by a hit and run driver while helping at the scene of a car crash. She was a true Samaritan who who lost her life in tragic circumstances.”

Kind-hearted Charlene also was instrumental in helping the Ogilvies go through the complex immigration process and the couple want to find some way of saying thanks.
