Fun Day in memory of Cleghorn boy Gregor Tough

ALTHOUGH it is being billed as a Family Fun Day, an event being held in Clydesdale on Sunday, November 4 has a very serious purpose behind it.

Being staged at the Valley International Park in Crossford between 1pm and 4pm, the gathering has been inspired by the memory of wee Gregor Tough of Cleghorn, the four-year-old who lost his long battle with the mercifully rare condition acute lymphoblastic leukaemia earlier this year.

The Gazette followed much of that fight and how the charity Children’s Cancer Care and Support for Parents did so much to help Gregor’s family cope during that difficult time when he was receiving intensive treatment far from home at the Edinburgh Sick Kids Hospital.

Last year friends and relations of the Toughs showed their gratitude by holding a Ladies Day which raised a superb £1700 for that charity.

Now the event has expanded to the Family Fun Day on Sunday with attractions such as a Pamper Corner with facial massages, etc; a Kiddies Corner with face-painting and other entertainments and even a Yummy Corner with cocktails, sweet-treats and other temptations.

There will also be various stalls including handbags, baby clothes, cards and plenty of early Christmas gift ideas. Entry for kids is free, adults £3, all getting a cupcake and soft drink.
