Fundraiser Tom Grassie is doing a unique charity cycle ride from Biggar to Little

When a Biggar charity fundraiser with a sense of humour heard there was a place in Ireland called Little, the temptation to stage a sponsored cycle run was just too much for him

From April 15 to 20, Dr Tom Grassie of Napier University will be pedalling with a group of colleagues and friends on the 300 mile trip – with the help of a ferry at one point, obviously – to raise funds for their favourite cause, to install a solar power system at the Shirati Hospital on the shores of Africa’s Lake Victoria.

“Actually, the sponsored cycle is to Galway,” admitted Tom, himself a solar power expert, “but when it was noticed that there was a place called Little nearby, I just couldn’t miss the chance to be able to say that I once cycled from Biggar to Little.”
