Gala Day is revived

CONDORRAT Gala Day is back in business - and the revived event will take place on Saturday, May 29.

Enough volunteers have come forward to organise the gala which did not take place last year, due to lack of helpers.

Community council chairwoman Agnes Cochrane said: "It was disappointing that no event was held last year but we more than intend to make up for that with a bigger and better gala day this year.

"To achieve this we need the support of the whole community in Condorrat so I am appealing for them to get involved in our activities both in the run up to the event and on the day itself," she said.

Gala committee chairman Councillor Danny Carrigan echoed the view that the assistance of the wider community would be needed.

"I am delighted that we have volunteers to help out this year. We still need more however and I would ask anyone who can help out to contact me," he said.

"We also want to hear from local organisations who wish to take a stall and anyone who can add anything to the event including displays, local bands etc," he said.

"As the event will be held over the bank holiday weekend we really want to make this a big family day out for Condorrat,Westfield and the whole of Cumbernauld.

"I would ask that anyone who wishes further information contact me at [email protected] or 01236 786367."
