Games Baton tour is about to hit Clydesdale

And there’s an open invitation to everyone in South Lanarkshire to come along and enjoy the experience of a lifetime and witness the fantastic Baton Relay.

Take along your family, friends, neighbours to line the streets and cheer on your very own batonbearers as they make their way through many of the towns throughout South Lanarkshire.

To the skirl of the pipes from Coalburn IOR Pipe Band, the Queen’s Baton Relay begins the South Lanarkshire leg of its journey on Sunday, June 22, in Lanark when the first of our batonbearers sets off at 9.30am from the A73 near Lanark Loch.

The bearers will head off along the route and you can follow its progress through Lanark until it moves on to Boghall Road, for the beginning of the Carluke stage at 10.10am.

On arrival in Carluke the baton bearers make their way through the town to arrive at the John Cumming Stadium at 10.25am where a plethora of entertainment awaits. The Baton will leave the Stadium at 11.29am and complete its Carluke journey at 11.55am,then head for Law.

You are invited to come along to the John Cumming Stadium for 10am on the day to enjoy a fun filled event which will culminate around 1.15pm.

Local primary school pupils, pupils of Celia Orr’s School of Dance and Coalburn Pipe Band are all set to entertain you.

There will be something to suit all with everything from dance to face painting and a bouncy castle.
