Garden plans to bloom thanks to festive concert

COFFEE and carols were on the menu in a cosy afternoon fundraiser staged at the Muifield Centre on behalf of Hope Community Garden.

The members of the gardening project like to include everyone in the fun so relied on the pupils of Glencryan School to provide the musical entertainment.

The group was among those who helped Cumbernauld net Beautiful Scotland awards this year.

Although the project boasts a sensory and a zen garden, what members lack is a greenhouse – and the event was a means of making that dream into a reality. A total of £133 was raised on the day.

Organiser Liz Graham who hails from Carbrain said that it wouldn’t have been possible without a great sense of community spirit.

She said: “I’d like to say a big thank you to my volunteers and committee, Asda, Tesco, Cumbernauld Village Care Home and Glencryan School and the Alpha Project for helping.”
