Gazette backs Support our Soldiers campaign

THE generosity of Carluke and Lanark Gazette readers has never been in doubt.

And this was never more evident than two years ago when we first appealed for readers to Remember Our Heroes, Past and Present.

Hundreds of parcels flooded in to our offices in Carluke and Lanark.

And this year, the Gazette is once again supporting the MOD-sanctioned parcel campaign, organised by charity Support Our Soldiers (SOS).

We're now asking readers to help bring some Christmas cheer to our boys and girls on the frontline...by wrapping up a parcel of goodwill.

The soldiers are in desperate need of the following:

Foot powder, pump action or roll-on deodorant, small travel size items such as shampoo, shower gel, small tubes of toothpaste and individual toothbrushes (MUST be boxed), body puffs, face cloths, nail brushes, nail clippers, lip balm, sunscreen, sandy-coloured bootlaces, small travel games, puzzle books, pens, pencils, notepaper, envelopes,

special occasion cards (such as birthday, anniversary, Mother's Day etc) a small individual Christmas pudding or Christmas cake (no other foodstuffs please); and a personal letter or card.

The Gazette's SOS campaign will run until Wednesday, November 3.
