Giffnock church unveils its own sea of poppies

East Renfrewshire now has its own Tower of London-inspired memorial, as Giffnock South Parish Church unveils an art installation created in honour of those who fell in World War One.

Church grounds behind the cenotaph have been used to create a memorial to Flanders Fields — a sea of poppies, revealed in time for Armistice Day commemorations.

Reverend Catherine J Beattie told The Extra: “A group of ladies from our church created 1,450 poppies to fill the space.
