Glasgow City Council has approved the Glasgow Affordable Housing Supply Programme, covering the cost of 743 homes — part of a wider promise to deliver 3,5000 affordable homes by May 2017.
The project ties into the People Make Glasgow Home initiative announced in August, which pledges 25,000 homes by 2025 — including a regeneration plan for Pollokshaws.

As reported in The Extra, the southside neighbourhood is a designated Transformational Regeneration Area (TRA), with the programme rolled out on this side of the Clyde in 2016/17.
Bailie Liz Cameron, executive member for economic development, said: “This investment of almost £73m in 2015/16 takes us another step closer to our targets.
“The investment is also expected to make a significant contribution to the city’s economy, generating a further £73m in the construction industry, bringing the potential for new jobs, apprenticeships and training opportunities.
“The creation of these new homes will also help us achieve our goals of building strong and resilient neighbourhoods and communities.”
