Local musicians will join Glasgow Rock Choir on stage for a jam packed night of festive entertainment including former X Factor finalist Nicholas McDonald and local youths from Bishopbriggs Academy School Choir. Adding to the festivities, the Westerton Male Voice Choir and Barrhead Burgh Brass Band will help entertain guests throughout the night.

Elaine Williamson, choir leader of Glasgow Rock Choir, said: “We are honoured to be part of Beatson Cancer Charity’s Christmas Concert for 2015. The charity means so much to all of us, whether it has been family, friends or even some of our members themselves, we all know someone that has received treatment and been touched by the amazing work that takes place at The Beatson.

“After losing my Mum to cancer last year, I witnessed first-hand the amazing care and support offered by this wonderful charity. Not only did they go above and beyond in their care for my Mum, but they offered me support at a time when I needed it the most. I speak for myself and the rest of the choir members when I say we cannot express enough how important the charity is to each and every one of us.

“That’s why we are excited to perform at the Beatson Cancer Charity Christmas Concert. It will be a fantastic evening, let’s celebrate the amazing work of the Beatson together.”

A special Christmas craft market run by Beatson radiographers, will provide the perfect opportunity to do a little Christmas shopping with unique gifts for all of the family.

Practice Education Radiographer Lorraine Whyte said: “Every day at The Beatson we see and treat people dealing with the enormity of a cancer diagnosis. Sadly for some they will spend this Christmas in hospital and away from their loved ones. Together the radiographers at The Beatson decided to do something different to raise funds to support our patients this Christmas. We have been crafting for months and have an array of Christmas gifts ready for our first ever Christmas Market at the concert. Beatson Cancer Charity does so much for patients including making sure every patient has a gift to open on Christmas morning, this is the very reason we are coming together to fundraise.”

With superb musical performances, festive readings, Christmas drinks and scrumptious mince pies, the fundraising concert will capture the true spirit of Christmas this festive season.

Morag Cunningham, Head of Fundraising at Beatson Cancer Charity said: “We were overwhelmed by the popularity of our Christmas Concert last winter, so this year’s concert aims to bring families and friends together again for another fantastic festive evening.

“Christmas can be an especially difficult time for people living with cancer. Donations are so important to the charity and this Christmas we want to ensure that our patients have a memorable experience and spend precious time comfortably with loved ones. So let’s come together to make this a big Beatson Christmas to remember.”

All funds raised from the event will help the charity provide vital specialist staff posts including nursing, radiography, physics and research based staff as well as funding enhanced medical equipment, innovative service developments, research projects and educational initiatives to support the 8000 new patients who attend The Beatson and its related facilities each year.
