Grand Brake Charity Day, Thankerton

DESPITE the late cancellation of a funfair, those who attended the Grand Brake Charity Day in Thankerton enjoyed themselves.

The event in Thankerton Village Park raised a total of £4180 for the road safety charity Brake.

It was organised by John McLean, whose 22-year-old son Andrew died in September last year in a head on collision on the A72 Peebles to Skirling road.

He said: “I was absolutely delighted with the turnout even though we were very badly let down by the funfair not being available.”
