Greetin’ Meeting will take place on April 30

IN at least one of the three Westminster seats covering the Clydesdale area, the public will be able to personally quiz the candidates on their policies.

That will be in the Lanark and Hamilton East Constituency where, following a long tradition of pre-council election Greetin’ Meetings, there will be a hustings at Lanark’s Greyfriars Church on Thursday, April 30, a week before the election.

The gathering will be open to the public and has been organised by the Lanark Churches in conjunction with Lanark Community Council.

The minister of the kirk hosting the event and the churches representative on the council, the Rev Bryan Kerr, said that a politically neutral chairman or woman will be appointed to moderate the event. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

If all the candidates standing agree to take part, then the political line-up on the night will be Alex Allison for the Conservatives, Angela Crawley for the SNP, Gregg Cullen for the Scottish Liberal Democrats, Jim Hood for the Scottish Labour Party and Donald MacKay for UKIP.
