The Pipes and Drums of 1st Battalion Scots Guards (1 SG) performed a Beating Retreat in front of and enthusiastic crowd at Glasgow City Chambers this week.
The Salute was taken by Bailie Phil Greene who deputised for the Lord Provost.
Beating Retreat has its origins in the early years of organised warfare when the beating of drums and the posting of camp guards heralded the closing of barracks gates and the lowering of flags at the end of the day.
