Guilty of sexually assaulting nine-year-old

A Motherwell man has been convicted of following three girls and sexually assaulting one of the youngsters.

Keith Beverage has now been put on the sex offenders register and will be sentenced in April after a risk assessment has been produced.

Beverage (33), formerly of Glen Tower and now Logans Road, was found guilty of placing his hand under the clothing of a girl aged nine and touching her body.

Hamilton Sheriff Court heard the assault happened at Woodside Tower, Motherwell, on October 6.

He was also convicted of following the girl and two other girls, aged five and eight, “behaving in a sexually inappropriate manner”, making gestures towards them and putting up his hands in a bid to stop the youngest girl.

He was cleared of sexually assaulting the five-year-old.

Beverage, who had denied the charges, remains on bail ahead of sentencing.
