Hair to help – eight-year-old losing locks to help great cause

An inspirational youngster has volunteered to have her precious hair cut in aid of a cause close to her heart.

Eight-year-old Kaitlyn Clark is determined to have a foot of hair shorn from her head for the Little Princess Trust.

The charity provides real-hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland who have sadly lost their own.

Kaitlyn is following in the footsteps of pop star Jessie J who recently cut her hair for the cause.

The P5 Glenmanor Primary pupil hasn’t had her hair cut since she was four or five-years-old, but she’s not afraid.

She said: “I’m fine about it.I can just grow it back. My hair is magical anyway.

“I spoke to my whole entire school about it and we’re going to put pictures on the Smartboard.

“My friends have been giving me some nice comments.”

Kaitlyn will have her hair snipped when she and her family raise enough funds to pay for the wig – £350.

So far, Kaitlyn and co have already raised around £130 in just a week.

Proud mum Kirsty Higgins will also be having her hair cut to help make up the 12 ounces needed for the wig.

She said: “Kaitlyn came up with the idea herself, just before I got married on August 2.
