Hall together now – growing from strength to strength in Lennoxtown!

Campsie Memorial Hall in Lennoxtown has enjoyed a terrific last year and there are exciting times ahead.

The hall trust recently held its second AGM and chairman Tommy Starrs thanked everyone for their support.

He said: “This has been another very busy, exciting and challenging year in the hall.

“I would express my thanks to all of our volunteers who continue to do such tremendous work keeping the whole place going in such good fettle.

“Activity levels continue to increase, with a range of classes, groups and events taking place.”

He added: “After a very busy summer and as a result of funding from the Big Lottery we have now completely refurbished the ladies toilets in the hall, installed double glazing throughout the building and are currently upgrading fire protection.

“Also, with a grant from EDC Civic Pride Fund, we purchased paint and have now repainted the outside of the building with support from volunteers.”

In addition, the winter series of the community cinema has now started.

Coming up on October 20 is‘Ice Age 4’, on November 3 it’s ‘Hotel Transylvania’ and on November 24 there will be a screening of ‘Monsters University’.

There will be a Psychic Night with James Clark on Friday, October 25, from 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £7 from the hall or committee members – including light supper and refreshments.

All proceeds from the event will go towards the costs of the children’s panto, which is once again being provided for children from the two Lennoxtown schools.

This year the show is ‘Aladdin’ – provided by Pyramid Pantomimes. Support from Highland Spring will help to offset some of the costs.

On December 7 a Christmas Fair will take place from 10am -1pm. Entry by donation. Tea/coffee and home-baking will be available. Santa (free) will be in residence!
