Have you got it in you to save a life in East Dunbartonshire?

LOCALS are being urged to help save a life by adding their name to the NHS Organ Donor Register.

Every day in the UK, three people die needlessly waiting on a transplant. And yet the words ‘I’d like to be an organ donor’ could save the lives of up to seven people per donor.

Scotland needs to increase the number of people on the NHS Organ Donor Register to help the 600 people in the country who are still waiting.

Recent statistics show Scotland continues to lead the way in terms of the number of people signed up to the register, but more needs to be done to ensure that those waiting get a second chance at life.

A staggering 96 per cent of people say they would accept an organ if they needed one and yet only 40 per cent of Scots have joined the register.

Locals are being urged to make their wishes known by talking to their family and loved ones and adding their name to the register to help those in desperate need.

A new TV and radio campaign designed to encourage Scots to become organ donors has now been launched.
