Lorna Ramsay contacted the Gazette after dog Jura disappeared on Thursday morning.

The golden retriever, which is only a few months old, vanished from the family home in Kirk Road at approximately 8.30am having been startled by a bin lorry.

The animal then went up Clyde Street before vanishing into the nearby Whiteshaw Estate.

The loss of any family pet is heartbreaking for their owner but Jura is no ordinary family pet.

The sensory dog is a constant companion for Lorna’s 10-year-old disabled son Arran, who suffers from Hydrocephalus which has left him with a number of physical and learning disabilities.

Lorna said: “We are still training Jura at the moment but she will be an absolute lifeline for Arran so it’s vital that we get her back.

“It’s not just a family pet and we hope that she turns up safe and well. She is a great companion for Arran and hopefully someone will be able to give us some good news very soon.”

If you have information on Jura’s whereabouts call Lorna on 01555 759160.
