Have your say on school’s future

The school is part of the council’s Primary School Improvement Programme, which aims to enhance the learning environment and improve support for the Curriculum for Excellence to ensure pupils have the best education provision possible.

In March 2013, the council agreed a preferred position to merge Baldernock Primary School and Torrance Primary School, but to defer this until the Commission on the Delivery of Rural Education had delivered its findings.

In September 2014, the council agreed to review its initial proposal in light of the subsequent changes to legislation on rural schools.

This means the council must consider all of the options for education in the area, and decide which is the most appropriate, through consultation with users. This is being done in partnership with the local community at a series of community workshop events being held in Baldernock Primay to discuss how education in Baldernock could be provided in the future.

The aim of the workshops will be to gather information to enable the council to decide the most appropriate course of action. All options will be considered, including the retention of the school as it is. This consultation work will be held in line with the provisions for rural schools in the Children and Young People’s Act 2013.

The council will provide information on all options to the community for comment and discussion.

The events will take place on Wednesday, January 21, February 18 and March 25 at 6.30pm in Baldernock Primary School.

That’s why we’re committed to developing proposals in partnership with the school community and the wider local community.
