FOLLOWING the success of last year, the Hawksland Hill bogie race bonanza is back and it promises to be even better than last year.

The inaugural event near Lesmahagow was on Easter Sunday, 2012 and despite less than perfect weather, a respectable crowd of riders ensured the event raised £1200 for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research and Macmillan Cancer Care.

This year, organiser Stuart Sommerville hopes for even more weird and wonderful entries in the fun bogie category, as well as a new bike race and two Scottish Cartie Association (SCA) Championships scheduled

So Sunday, July 7, is going to be a fun-filled racing day!

Stuart said: “Last year went very well and there was quite a bit of interest because it was the first time such an event had been held.

“We had husband and wife teams entering and fathers and sons building bogies so it was a real family occasion. Some of the designs were absolutely brilliant.

“This time we are hoping to have even more entries and, if the weather is kind, to see as many people as possible coming to watch the races.”
