Hawksland bogie race this Easter Sunday!

A UNIQUE event is taking place in Hawksland on Easter Sunday...scores of people will race bogies for charity.

The event will be held over an 800 metre course, from Hawksland Farm all the way down to Birkhill Farm, with the winner the one to go the furthest. Another prize will be awarded to the best designed bogie.

The event was organised by Hawksland resident Stuart Sommerville, who is hoping that a large crowd will turn up.

The 57-year-old said: “Every year in the village we have an Olympic-style event in which the men and the women compete in a number of events.

“The two charities we’ll be raising money for are Leukaemia Research and Macmillan Cancer Support so we are hoping for a few entries and that those watching will contribute too.”

To find out how much is raised, keep an eye out for further news in an upcoming edition of the Gazette.
