Help the Seagull Trust to spread its wings a little more

The Kirkintilloch branch of the Trust put on cruises which takes groups out on the Forth and Clyde Canal, and they have been shortlisted for a grant from the Tesco Bags of Help scheme.

The charity plan to use the money to provide enhanced parking, including additional spaces for the disabled groups who use their service, based at Southbank Marina.

But The Trust are in competition with two other groups to receive £12,000, £10,000 or £8,000, with the exact amount of grant to be decided by public voting of Tesco customers.

Voting will run at the Kirkintilloch, Bishopbriggs, Craigmarloch and Cumbernauld stores between Monday October 31 and Sunday November 13.

The voting process involves Tesco customers being given a token when making a purchase which they then deposit in the box for their preferred charity.

The Seagull Trust is appealing for help from residents to make sure they get the maximum grant, to help them see through their plans.

Allan Rattray, Kirkintilloch Branch Chairman said: “The maximum grant would be hugely beneficial in enabling the provision of disabled parking for our clients who are enthusiastic in their support for the benefits our facilities provide.

The Kirkintilloch Branch of the trust has just completed another record-breaking season, running 719 cruises and carrying 6,601 people with special needs, of whom 915 were in wheelchairs and 427 were children.
