Helping special four-legged friends

Walking the dog takes on a charity slant on May 10 at Rouken Glen Park. Assistance dog charity Canine Partners celebrates its 25th anniversary with a Big Glasgow Bluebell Walk, sponsored by the Pets ‘n’ Vets family.

Kicking off at 2pm, the event will also offer activities for the whole family — and of course, four-legged members are just as welcome.

Dale Gormley, regional fundraiser for Scotland, said: “We really look foreard to the Big Glasgow Bluebell Walk each year, and May’s event is shaping up to be the best yet.

“Besides the walk itself, there will be face painting, tombola and a demonstration from one of our amazing assistance dogs.”

Canine Partners provides specially trained assistance dogs to help people with disabilities to open and close doors, press buttons and even unload the washing machine or use a cash mashine.

Entry fee is £5 per adult (children free) — to register, visit caninepartners.org.uk/bigbluebellwalks or call 0845 481 1915.
