High flier John still going strong

Adventurous pensioner John Greenlees has once again signed up to zipslide across the River Clyde.

Keen indoor bowler John, who turns 88 in June, lives in the Ben Lui sheltered housing complex in Balloch. He is fundraising for Leukaemia Research by way of thanks as his daughter Jane Stewart recovered from the condition.

This year the zipslide, John’s fourth, is on April 18. The retired railwayman, who has been given nicknames such as Tarzan and Biggles for his exploits, says he has a couple more stunts left in him after this year.

“If I am still around I intend to keep doing these until I am 90,” said John. “I don’t know if I would say it is ‘fun’ exactly though!”
