High praise for St Helen’s

A LOCAL school has received a glowing report from education watchdogs.

Staff pupils and parents at St Helen’s Primary School and its nursery class have been praised by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education for ‘‘the very good quality of education’’.

Inspectors had special praise too for the youngsters who they termed “confident, proud of their school and keen to learn.”

They also hailed the school for “stimulating and enjoyable learning experiences including children’s use of information and communications technology.’’ The inspection team also remarked on the high calibre of teamwork in the school and said that this created ‘‘a positive culture of continuous improment under the strong leadership of the head teacher.’’

That head teacher is Margaret Friel, who said: “I am absolutely delighted for the whole school community on receiving such a resounding endorsement by HMI on the good work of the school.

“I am really proud to be the head teacher of St Helen’s and can’t praise highly enough the children, staff, parents and everybody associated with the school. Our intention is to go from strength to strength.”
