Holidaymakers meet up with Kilsyth nun serving in Barbados
George Pringle left Kilsyth many years ago. His career included a four year stint as chief engineer for a Barbadian power company. Having returned to the Caribbean nation on holiday with his wife, they were pleased to meet Sister Pauline and invited her to their villa for lunch.
Sister Pauline, who is now working at St Mary’s Church, says she is happier than ever with her new role, which includes teaching children at the local school.
Sister Pauline grew up locally and attended St Patrick’s Primary School in Kilsyth and Our Lady’s High School in Cumbernauld before joining the sisterhood in 1977.
It is clear that Sister Pauline is fondly remembered in Kilsyth as the Columban Singers held a collection at their annual Festive Concert in St Patrick’s Church last December which raised an impressive £600 which has been gratefully received,
