Holly Sinclair saw the presentation from Classrooms for Malawi (CfM) fundraising officer John Duffy in June at St Athanasius Primary in Carluke.

The then primary two pupil was so affected by what she saw that she decided to write letters to local and national companies to see if they could help her.

The result is that Holly, now in primary three, has secured three top prizes which will go to auction and numerous other raffle prizes aimed at raising cash for CfM.

Holly said: “I couldn’t stop thinking about the kids.

“When I was going to sleep I was thinking about what I could do. I wrote my letter, coloured it in and we sent it away to a lot of people.

“When I am older I would like to go to Malawi and see the children there. We are very lucky living where we do.”

With a little bit of help from mum Julia and dad Simon, Holly managed to acquire 27 different prizes.

These include gift vouchers for Ramsay of Carluke and Toys-R-Us, packs of Borders Biscuits and Tunnocks Teacakes and teddy bears.

However, the main prizes are a signed Glasgow Warriors rugby top and private tours of both Ibrox Stadium and Celtic Park.

The Classrooms for Malawi raffle will take place in the school on September 25. You can bid for the three auction prizes by searching Holly’s Classrooms for Malawi Auction on Facebook or text bids starting with “Warriors £xx”, “Celtic £xx” and “Rangers £xx” to 07457 145871.
