Home town gig for Little Eye

The four piece rock band will headline the Kirkintilloch venue on Monday, May 25 as part of their summer tour, which also sees them perform at the Isle of Wight festival.

Euan Malloch (26), from Kirkintilloch, said he owes part of his success to John and Audrey Bowman at Bliss, after they sponsored him and some friends to make their first CD.

He told the Herald: “It’s a really cool new venue and we thought it would be good to do a local gig.

“Without their support at a young age I may not have caught the music bug and made music a career, so it’s nice to come back and play for them. Hopefully it’ll be a really good show,”

The former Lenzie Academy pupil was born and brought up in Kirkintilloch and is excited to come back to his roots for the show in Bliss.

He hopes it will attract live music goers into the town and encourage more bands to take to the stage.

Little Eye are now firmly in the spotlight after supporting music legends Blondie and selling out the ABC1 venue on Sauchiehall Street, in Glasgow.

Their album, Fighting the Future, was released in April 2014, just a few months before they opened the main stage at the Isle of Wight Festival for headliners, Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Euan said: “We’re recording in London just now and doing a lot of gigs over the summer, including one in Sweden.”

The idea to play a local gig came to mind when the band visited schools all over Scotland as part of a tour with anti-drugs education programme DARE, including some schools in East Dunbartonshire.

They entertained kids with some of their own songs, as well as covers, and delivered an anti-drugs message to youngsters.

The band are managed by R&B singer Alesha Dixon and are now regulars on STV Glasgow’s Riverside Show, which showcases local musicians.

Tickets for the gig in Club Bliss can be purchased online through Eventbrite and cost £7.

All ages are welcome and there will be a separate bar for those aged over 18.
