COUNCIL officials will be in Kilsyth for a debate on local housing issues.

In the vicinity of Kilsyth and surrounding villages, there has been some concern over private housing developments, quarrying operations at Burngreen Brae and flood relief work on the Colzium Estate at Cavalry Park, and young families are struggling to find social housing or an affordable home to provide entry to the property ladder.

Kilsyth and Villages Community Forum have invited Shirley Linton, Graeme Lees and Pamela Humprhires, all officials with North Lanarkshire Council, to attend their next meeting and speak to members of the public about these vital issues.

Cheryl Anderson of Kilsyth Community Forum said: “We are hoping to see as many members of the public as possible at the meeting, where we will hopefully have some big questions answered.”

The housing debate will be followed by the Forum’s annual general meeting. The meeting starts at 7pm on Wednesday, June 8, and the venue is the old library on the Burngreen in Kilsyth.
