Hundreds turn out for Lesmahagow Gala Day

DESPITE the Highland Games being cancelled, Lesmahagow residents still turned up in their hundreds for the village gala day.

Many people lined the streets as this year's procession moved away and made its way to Bankhead Park.

The weather was certainly kind to the new queen and her court as Lesmahagow basked in glorious sunshine.

Outgoing Queen Lynsey Bell then passed the baton to the 2010 Tartan Queen Chelsea Donaghue before the crowning ceremony began just after 11am.

She was accompanied to the ceremony by Tartan Princesses Courtney Yuill and Nicole Gray, and Clansmen Ross Irvine and Robert Lawson.

The crowning capped an outstanding day for Lesmahagow High pupil Chelsea.

The new Tartan Queen said: "I was looking forward to it for the past few months and I think getting picked up in the car to go was really special."
