In Concert with the Cosmos

What’s the connection between a star studded concert in Glasgow’s Clyde Auditorium, Bishopbriggs churches, an international television series and an Oxford Don?

The answer . . . God, and trying to establish if there is convincing evidence that he’s real!

That was the challenge taken up four years ago by Hamilton based TV production company Kharis Productions.

With curiosity stimulated in ‘the biggest question of all’ by a Richard Dawkins TV series, claiming that science has buried God, Kharis Productions travelled the world in pursuit of scientists on both sides of the argument who can shed light on the subject. The result is The God Question TV series, now being broadcast worldwide.

One of the main contributors to the series, much sought the world over for his expertise on the subject, is Oxford Don Professor John Lennox.

This Sunday, June 8, he will make a guest appearance at Woodhill Evangelical Church.

Professor Lennox is in Scotland to feature in ‘In Concert with the Cosmos’, a unique way - with a strong Bishopbriggs connection - of continuing to probe the God Question.

The event, in the Clyde Auditorium on June 7, is a live show - which organisers say contains some astonishing information about the universe - presented in the form of a TV chat show with music provided by Bishopbriggs-based Springfield Cambridge Festival Chorus and Orchestra and other guests, including the internationally acclaimed Tenors Un Limited.

In Concert with the Cosmos is being recorded for television with a sizeable audience anticipated especially in the USA.

Meanwhile, Woodhill Evangelical Church members are delighted to welcome Professor Lennox for a special event of their own on Sunday, June 8, at 11am. Many from other churches are expected to attend.

Local businessman and church elder Alasdair Morris, one of the chief organisers of In Concert with the Cosmos, said: “It might seem unusual for a church to be asking ‘what’s the evidence for God?’ but nobody wants to base their hopes on wishful thinking.

“More and more people in our modern world are rightly asking the big questions and we have an obligation to provide some answers.

“We believe that some of the pointers are in science itself. No one can shed more light on the subject than John Lennox.”

After lunch, Professor Lennox will face a series of challenging questions, many of them coming from young people.
